Bruny Shore
About
Bruny Shore is an extraordinary holiday house on North Bruny Island with stunning views across Storm Bay towards the Tasman Peninsula and Cape Raoul. The house enjoys a secluded location perched 70 meters above Timber Beach at Bull Bay accessible by a foot track.
The 18.5 hectare (45 acre) property has been convented to protect the habitat of two of Tasmania’s most endangered birds: the 40 spotted pardalote and swift parrot. The abundant wildlife is a treat. Whales are occasional visitors to Bull Bay.
The house is about an hour’s journey from Hobart including a relaxing 15 minute ferry crossing from Kettering to Bruny Island. Bruny Shore has been designed and built to minimise environmental impact. It is energy efficient with optimal insulation in all cavities. Windows and doors are all double glazed with low e glass and argon gas.
Recycled Tasmanian timbers have been used in construction of flooring, fixtures, beds and dining table. Timber was sourced from wattle trees that were felled in suburban gardens for safety reasons. All the external doors and many of the windows were constructed from Forest Stewardship Council certified western red cedar.
External cladding and decking are made from macrocarpa, an exotic
conifer, common as a windrow tree on farm paddocks. It was salvaged
from trees that had fallen over or were breaking up.
No pets and no smoking are permitted on the Bruny Shore property.
